Often you're eating on the run or out with friends and you stop at a fast food joint. Sometimes you have other options if you're in a remote location or other people want to eat there. To make best of the situation, try to make healthy fast food choices. There are a few guidelines you should follow to make the best of the situation. Always avoid soda based drinks and anything that is deep fried such as chips, hash browns, chicken patties, breaded chicken nuggets or fish sandwiches. These items are soaked in deadly trans fats from industrial hydrogenated vegetable oils that are used to cook these items.

The idea behind eating healthy fast food is to consume as little trans fats as possible which is detrimental to your lean muscle diet and body conditioning. There is research available that suggests that consuming as little as 1 gram of trans fat per day can have a serious degenerative effect on your body. This can produce internal effects such as inflammation, the clogging and hardening of the arteries, heart disease and various forms of cancer, not to mention stacking on fat filled kilos. Food substances such as breaded chicken sandwiches with a serve of fries can contain as much as 10 grams of trans fat. If you add a cookie or small dessert loaded with deadly margarine or shortening, your meal will add up to 13 grams of trans fats or more. Many people continually consume this amount of fat without consciously realizing the detrimental effects it can have on the body. That's why a little knowledge and making healthy fast food choices are so important.

Soda based drinks are loaded with corn syrup which will stack on those extra unwanted pounds. Water is the best and healthy alternative but if you need some flavor go for unsweetened or lightly sweetened iced tea. For breakfast, the best choice is an egg, ham and cheese on an English muffin (not a trans fat croissant) or a fruit and nut salad. Lunch and dinner selections can include a grilled chicken sandwich or just a plain cheeseburger. The nasty stuff in fats food establishments is the sodas, the fries and anything saturated in trans fats.

Keep in mind that many establishments such as McD's now include nutritional information on their wrappers. There are also now many healthy fast foods items such as salads contained on the menus so there is no excuse for eating the wrong foods. Remember, it is you who has to look out for your healthy because no one else will. Next time you're in a fats food joint you should consider the ramifications and go for healthy fast food options.
